Alison Krauss
The first surge of popular recognition came from bluegrass musician Alison Krauss in 1990 when, at the age of 19 years old, she was able to walk away of the Grammy Awards with the trophy for Best Bluegrass Album. It was an accomplishment that was not solely due to the artist's age, but because the album that was a part of her success, I've Got That Old Feeling is actually the third of her collection. Too Late to Cry was her debut album that was released in the Champaign Illinois local's age, 16. Krauss had signed to Rounder Records, one of the most prestigious folk labels even at fourteen. The accomplishments of Krauss at this young age, as well as her skill, have been consistently matched by her ability to remained faithful to bluegrass - one of America's most enduring and most unappreciated musical genres. Krauss, who was once young phenom had become a professional musician as well as a producer.
